A STAR IS BORN - LMMU Sports Team presenting Trophies to The Vice Chancellor

Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) is truly the proverbial baby born running! The University’s all-conquering athletes recently participated in the Independence Games held in Livingstone from 23rd to 26th October, 2019 where they incredibly won nine trophies in five different sporting activities.  
The Independence Games were hotly contested by four other Institutions of Higher Learning namely; Kafue College of Nursing, Dovecot College of Nursing, National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and Natural Resources Development College (NRDC).

LMMU won three Gold Medals in men’s soccer as well as in both men and women Chess games. The University also scooped four Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals. The sporting activities participated in included Football (males and females), Basketball (males and females), Volley ball (males and females), Chess (male and females) and Net ball.  

Receiving the athletes from their triumphant mission, LMMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elwyn Chomba encouraged them to work even harder and bring more glory to the University. She stated that their victory was noteworthy and significant as it brings a positive limelight to the newly established Institution.
Prof. Chomba added that sport is extremely important to young people as it develops a sense of self-confidence, self-esteem and enhances discipline that contributes greatly to their academic performance.
