Lusaka, Zambia (21st November 2025) . Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sekelani Banda, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to developing a shared, forward looking vision as work progresses on the institution’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

Speaking during the stakeholder consultative meeting held on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, Prof. Banda noted that the University is focused on defining where it intends to be over the next five years and ensuring that this vision is informed by collaborative input from key stakeholders

Prof. Banda announced that over the past five months, LMMU has undertaken extensive institutional, financial, and operational reviews to better understand its current position and future prospects. This process has included the use of analytical tools such as SWOT and PESTLE analyses, which have helped identify strengths, challenges, risks, and emerging opportunities for growth and transformation. 

He further stated that the University is currently implementing a transition realignment strategy aimed at strengthening leadership structures and enhancing the quality of academic programmes. This effort is expected to support improved governance, operational efficiency, mentorship, and overall academic excellence. 

At the centre of the strategic planning process is LMMU’s “Students First” policy, which Prof. Banda emphasized is guiding the University’s commitment to providing a supportive and empowering learning environment. 

The consultative meeting brought together stakeholders to provide input that will shape the final Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. Prof. Banda underscored the importance of inclusive engagement, stating that the future of LMMU must be built through collective insight, collaboration, and a shared sense of purpose. 

LMMU will continue to engage key partners as the strategic planning process advances toward completion.
